Privacy Policy — PrimeView Chronicle

Last updated: 24 May 2025

At PrimeView Chronicle, we believe that trust is earned in the details. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our site, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We’ve tried to write this as plainly as possible — if something isn’t clear, you’re always welcome to reach out.

Who we are

PrimeView Chronicle is a UK-based sports publication operated by PrimeView Media Ltd. Our registered address is 14 St. George’s Place, Brighton, BN1 4GB, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we act as the data controller for any personal information collected through this site.

What information we collect

Most of our content is freely available without the need to provide any personal details. However, we do collect certain information in the following situations:

  • Newsletter subscriptions. If you choose to sign up for our editorial newsletter, we ask for your email address. Nothing more. We don’t share that address with anyone, and every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Contact correspondence. When you email our editorial team or fill out a contact form, we receive whatever information you choose to share — your name, email address, and any content of your message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry.
  • Automatic browsing data. Like virtually every website, we log technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the time you spend on them. This is collected through basic server logs and a lightweight analytics tool. We’ve configured our analytics to anonymise IP addresses, so we never see the full string. We review this data in aggregate to understand what our audience finds valuable — not to track individuals.

We do not collect sensitive personal data, nor do we engage in any form of automated profiling or decision-making.

Cookies and similar technologies

We take a deliberately restrained approach to cookies. At present, we set only the following:

  • A small session cookie that helps our site function properly — for instance, remembering your cookie preferences during your visit. This cookie is essential for the site to work and expires as soon as you close your browser.
  • If you accept analytics cookies, our analytics provider places a cookie that helps us distinguish between new and returning visitors at an aggregate level. We don’t use it to build a profile of your browsing habits.

We do not serve advertising on PrimeView Chronicle, and we do not use third-party tracking cookies from ad networks or social media platforms. If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy and give you clear notice.

How we use your information

The information we collect is used only for the following purposes:

  • To deliver our newsletter to those who have subscribed;
  • To respond to reader correspondence and editorial enquiries;
  • To analyse site traffic patterns so we can improve our coverage and understand which stories resonate with our readership;
  • To maintain the security and proper functioning of our site.

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information. We do not share data with third parties except where strictly necessary to operate the site — for instance, our newsletter delivery provider processes email addresses on our behalf under a data processing agreement that limits their use exclusively to sending our emails.

How long we keep your data

We keep data only for as long as it serves the purpose for which it was collected:

  • Newsletter subscriber email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe;
  • Correspondence is kept for a reasonable period — typically twelve months — after which it is deleted from our systems;
  • Aggregated analytics data is retained indefinitely, as it does not identify individuals.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have several rights regarding your personal information:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you;
  • The right to request correction of any inaccurate data;
  • The right to request deletion of your data;
  • The right to object to or restrict certain types of processing;
  • The right to data portability, where applicable.

If you’d like to exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We aim to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. There is no fee for making a request unless it is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

Where your data is stored

Our site is hosted on servers located within the United Kingdom. Where we use third-party providers — for example, our newsletter service — we select providers who store data within the UK or the European Economic Area, or who have appropriate safeguards in place such as Standard Contractual Clauses. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any personal information we hold.

Links to other sites

Our articles may link out to other websites — official league pages, athlete foundations, partner publications — but this privacy policy applies only to PrimeView Chronicle. If you follow a link elsewhere, we’d encourage you to review the destination site’s own privacy practices. We can’t take responsibility for how other organisations handle your data.

Children’s privacy

Our content is written for a general sports audience and is not knowingly directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you have reason to believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We review this policy periodically and may update it as our editorial practices or legal obligations evolve. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes, we’ll post a notice on the site or, where appropriate, notify newsletter subscribers directly.

Contact and complaints

If you have questions about this policy or how your data is handled, write to us at [email protected] or by post to Data Protection, PrimeView Media Ltd, 14 St. George’s Place, Brighton, BN1 4GB.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). You can find details on their website at ico.org.uk.

We care about getting this right — not because regulations demand it, but because the relationship we’re building with our readers depends on straightforwardness in every part of what we do. That includes how we handle the information you trust us with.
